Menu Extra x Marthe Henry

Menu Extra welcomes rising Meursault star Marthe Henry for a tasting menu paired with her wines. She will brave the Canadian cold to share her philosophy and passion as part of Montréal en Lumière.

After working in Paris as a journalist, Marthe decided to return to her roots and learn more about the vine. Indeed, her grandfather, Pierre Boillot, was a pioneering winemaker in the region. She made this decision in 2013, where she went to study with Jean-Yves Devevey, Pierre-Henri Rougeot, and Jean-Noel Gagnard. With her apprenticeships under her belt, she began her career as a winemaker working high-quality vines in the heart of Burgundy.

In this legendary region, taking over a winery alone is a daunting task, but doing it as a woman is legendary. She must battle old prejudices and outdated traditions to establish herself alongside her colleagues, one bottle of wine at a time. We have enormous respect for Marthe, for her quiet and much-needed strength.

Marthe Henry's wines are absolutely delicious, reflecting sensitivity, precise work, and frank curiosity. Few interventions in the winemaking process help to avoid masking the magnificent grapes from several plots in Saint-Romain, Meursault, Maranges, Rully, etc. A long aging of at least 18 months in oak barrels allows the wines to fully express their unique terroirs.

Francis and Alexis will have the honor of creating an 8-course gourmet menu paired with Marthe Henry wines on March 6, 7, and 8, 2025. Only a few bottles will arrive in Montreal, so places will be limited.
